What actually changes
PPT and PDF are not the same picture in two wrappers.
Each slide is rendered to a fixed PDF page with fonts embedded, preserving how the deck looked rather than how it was built.
Worth knowing first
Decks from the 4:3 era carry that aspect ratio into the PDF, producing pages that look narrow next to modern documents. Fonts common in the 2000s, such as older Office bundles, are also long gone and will substitute unless they were embedded.
