What actually changes

The PowerPoint deck is rewritten in the OpenDocument presentation schema, mapping slides, layouts and media across.
Worth knowing first
SmartArt has no OpenDocument equivalent and becomes a flat image or a loose group of shapes. Charts linked to embedded workbook data lose that link, so the numbers become static.
