The OpenDocument XML is translated into Word's OOXML. Text, styles, images and tables carry across; the file becomes one Word opens without a compatibility warning.
LibreOffice-specific features have no Word equivalent, and frames are the usual problem. A layout built with linked text frames or with fields LibreOffice defines itself will reflow, so check anything with a fixed design before sending.
